Are you aged 16-24 and living in Norwich, Great Yarmouth or West Norfolk? Passionate about creativity and culture?

The East Anglian Local Cultural Education Partnerships would like to recruit two new members from each location to form a Young LCEP Board.

This is a great opportunity to develop your leadership skills, and have a real say on young people’s access to creativity and culture in your community. If you’re looking at a future career in the creative sector, there will be lots of opportunities to meet organisations and learn more about how they work!

What is an LCEP?

Several years ago Arts Council England in partnership with the Department for Education launched The Cultural Education Challenge. Encouraging local organisations and teachers to work together to help improve the cultural education for young people.

In each Local Cultural Education Partnership, a Bridge Organisation works with schools, the local authority, voluntary and community organisations, Higher Education, Music Education Hubs, and other funders to enable a cultural offer locally, to share resources and bring about a more joined up and visible delivery of cultural education.

There are currently 9 LCEP’s across the East looking for young people to join their local LCEP’s and become part of the conversation.

Time Commitment

Around 6-8 hours per month including a monthly young LCEP board meeting every month, and at least one subgroup meeting each month.

You will also be expected to either set up or work with an existing group of young people. These young people groups may already exist in your region, young curators, young promoters, arts ambassadors etc.

Meetings will take place over Zoom and we hope that in April 2021 we will be able to all meet up in person.

What skills do I need?

  •  ability to listen to the different views and unique experiences of young people and reflect your perspectives
  • confidence to communicate your views effectively to a wide range of people
  • passion for arts and culture in your community
  • understanding and / or interest in how children and young people can influence change
  • desire to be curious and learn new skills

Interested?

Contact the Young LCEP Coordinators Max and Kylan at younglcep@20twentyproductions.co.uk including a bit of info about yourself, your age and your location. Deadline for interest is Friday 2 October.

There will be two online taster sessions where we will create a campaign to develop Arts Ambassador groups in each of our LCEP areas, through working with existing youth groups and schools. This will give you a chance to see what it will be like to be part of the Young LCEP board before committing to join on:
