1-10 JULY 2022

The Young Norfolk Arts Festival 2022 featured a programme of performance, theatre, writing, dance, visual arts and creative workshops, by and for young people across Norfolk.

Themes for this year ranged from creative responses to the climate crisis, to fundraising for period poverty and refugees. As always we would like to thank the amazing and inspiring groups of young people who co-curated the Festival with us.

YNAF 2022 LAUNCH

Join us live as we launch this year’s Festival! With music, poetry and dance, curated by our YNA Collective.

NATURE IS OUR HOME WORKSHOP

Sun 3 July 11.30-1pm | Sainsbury Centre | FREE

Join members of the YNA Collective for a family friendly workshop inspired by nature and home. With a short guided nature walk in the woodlands next to the Sainsbury Centre, we’ll be collecting objects to create our own mini ‘home in nature’. Suitable for ages 3+

YOUNG VISIONARIES SHOWCASE

Join us for the first Young Visionaries Showcase, where young creatives will be showcasing their talents in music, art, poetry and spoken word.

POSTCARD POEMS

Launches Friday 1 July across Norwich and online

School students across Norfolk and Norwich have been invited to celebrate Norwich using bite size poetry. You will be able to find the poems exhibited across the city and online this July.

Coordinated by the Norwich 2040 Local Cultural Education Partnership.

LOST RIVER STAGE

The Lost River Stage will showcase up and coming musicians, bands, dancers, poets and performers from across Norfolk, featuring performances from some of the freshest young talent in the county.

Presented by The Garage Theatre Company. Fifteen year old Lydia (from Norwich) has become obsessed with the work of fifteen year old Greta (from Sweden). Lydia leaves her family, friends and home in a trek spanning nations as she attempts to put right what other generations have done wrong….

THE FLOWIN AND GLOWIN FESTIVAL

Sun 10 July | 10.30am-4pm | The Garage | Ticketed

The Taverham Community Ambassadors in partnership with The Garage presents a day of celebration to support refugees living with period poverty. Including yoga, comedy, music, refreshments and more! All proceeds to Bloody Good Period.

GROWTH

Screening as part of Nature. Crisis. Drama and online

Growth is an experimental dance film exploring the cycles nature goes through and how they intertwine with rural and urban environments.

THE DANCE WE MADE

Sat 2 July | All day | Norwich City Centre | FREE

The TDWM Team has just 2 hours to create a brand new dance, and they need your help…Help the dancers create some new moves and watch the performance come together before your very eyes.

The newly created dance will then be performed by the TDWM Team as part of our Lost River Stage.

SONGWRITING WORKSHOPS WITH JESS MORGAN

Tue 5 July, Thur 7 July & Fri 8 July 4-5pm | Norwich Arts Centre | FREE

In three fast-moving sessions we will drum up and develop song ideas through writing exercises and experiment with the ways that music can support and complement lyrics. With writer and musician Jess Morgan.

A two-day symposium exploring the role of the arts in addressing conservation and the climate crisis. Featuring creative responses by the YNA Collective.

YNA COLLECTIVE NEST PODCAST

Launching online from 26 June

What does it take to pursue a creative path? The Young Norfolk Arts Collective Nest is a mini-series podcast hosted by Collective member Amelia Long, her creative (and curious…) chats will capture the lives of each guest and how they got to where they are now.

IMAGINING HISTORY SUMMER SCHOOL

During the month of July, you can choose one of three specially designed workshops based around weekly online sessions during which members of the IHUK team set you a series of writing, thought and exploration tasks.
